The White Horse, situated in the beautiful village of Foxton, Cambridge is proudly owned and run by Phil Abbey and his wife Kim. Now in their 4th year at the pub, Phil and Kim have found a real passion for the publican lifestyle, but do concede that times can be tough. "Our customer base is mostly 30-50 year olds, and with many of them having less disposable income these days, we are finding that our competition has turned from other pubs and restaurants to the local supermarkets with their cheap alcohol deals."

Looking for ways to compete and boost food sales, particularly during the traditionally slower post-Christmas months, Phil recently decided to trial the Mega Menu Sale concept from Moy Park Foodservice. Allowing publicans to offer a wide range of popular dishes as discounted options or meal deals, the concept went down a treat at The White Horse. "The Mega Menu Sale worked really well for us and proved to be a hit with our customers. Many people, who had just popped in for a drink, saw the POS and decided to stay and have a bite to eat as well which was great! Our food sales increased by a terrific 15% whilst we were running the promotional menu, which for January is a fantastic achievement!"

Featuring a great range of tasty Moy Park products such as our famous Battered Chickwich™ Steak and the moreish Mediterranean Crunchies, the Mega Menu Sale is ideal for serving throughout the day to tempt your customers. Phil agrees, "The products went down a treat, especially the Cauliflower Cheese Bites and the meal deal offer! For us the benefits came from the speed that the products could be prepared - ready to serve, from freezer to plate, in a matter of minutes - perfect for the lunchtime rush and with absolutely no wastage."

Phil's top tips to other pubs looking to run the Mega Menu Sale are:
  • Advertise the menu to your customers inside and outside your pub. Be sure to make use of the eye-catching POS available from Moy Park Foodservice for this - great for catching customers' attention!
  • Hand out samples of the products to tempt people. This worked a treat for us and helped to drive sales of the menu!
  • Talk up the promotion - when you're having your usual chat with your customers simply mention the deal - this worked especially well with the burger and a pint meal deal!
